In “A Day Made of Glass,” manufacturer Corning Inc. visualizes how future experiences at home, office, and in transit will be profoundly influenced by new glass-based technologies. More about the interactive touch-display capabilities enabled by glass than the material itself, “A Day Made of Glass” presents a concise encapsulation of the myriad ways in which future generation iPhone/iPad functionality may infiltrate kitchens, bathrooms, cars, building envelopes, and even billboard signage.
Of particular interest are flexible glass displays with realtime input-output tethering to PDA devices. One sequence in the video depicts an architect unrolling one of these displays to share touch-sensitive designed content with a client. Is the day of heavy 30” x 42” rolls of architectural drawings about to meet its demise?
