San Diego architect Graham Downes died on Sunday as a result of injuries he sustained at his home on Friday, according to a report from U-T San Diego. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
According to the report, Downes was having a party on Thursday night at his Bankers Hill home when he was allegedly involved in a confrontation with employee Higinio Salgado. San Diego police found the men on the ground early Friday morning. A critically injured Downes was hospitalized, and Salgado was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
U-T San Diego did not report the nature of the injuries.
Downes was known for a number of San Diego buildings and renovations, including the designs for Pacific Beach's Tower23 Hotel and its restaurant and bar, JRDN. His firm, Graham Downes Architecture, merged with Architectural Concepts in 2011.
