The College of Charleston School of the Arts has selected New York–based traditional architect Peter Pennoyer, FAIA, as the recipient of their Albert Simons Medal of Excellence for his work in classic design and historic preservation. The award, named after 20th century architect Albert Simons, was created to honor architects who have worked on Charleston architecture and preservation. Last year the medal was given to the well-known architect Robert A.M. Stern, FAIA, and on Thursday, Pennoyer will be presented with this year’s medal at a ceremony in the Simons Center of the Arts in Charleston, S.C.
