According to a recent article from SF Gate, San Francisco supervisor Mike Farrell, whose jurisdiction includes the famed "crooked street," wants to impose a tax and require reservations for the tourist destination. “The bottom line is that the quality of life for residents, not only on the crooked street itself but the vast surrounding neighborhoods, has deteriorated to the point where the city has to step in and make a difference,” Farrell told the paper.
