Studio Dror plans to construct a 150-meter-wide biosphere in Montreal's Park Jean Drapeau. The firm's proposal celebrates the upcoming 50th anniversary of Expo 67 and Buckminster Fuller's "lonesome dome." The new structure will be made of aluminum and, similar to Fuller's biosphere, it will have a vegetated sound buffer. The Studio Dror team predicts that the biosphere's position on the Montreal skyline will transform the area into a destination spot and increase the popularity of music festivals and cultural events in the area. The project is scheduled to open in two years.
