East Coast firm Allan Greenberg Architect has been commissioned to design a new music and opera building at Houston's Rice University. Scheduled to break ground next year and open in 2020, the new 84,000-square-foot structure for the Shepherd School of Music will connect via a public plaza to the existing Alice Pratt Brown Hall designed by architect Ricardo Bofill, Hon. FAIA, and together the two structures will become the university's new Music and Performing Arts Center.
The firm, led by Classical architect Allan Greenberg, AIA, also designed Rice University's Humanities Building, which was completed in 2000. Founded in 1972, the firm has offices in New York City, Greenwich, Conn., and Alexandria, Va.
