Using projection mapping, Portland-based designer Craig Winslow and London-based writer Sam Roberts
created the Light Capsules x Ghostsigns installation for this year's London Design Festival, a project which aimed to highlight the long forgotten beauty of old street signs. With help from historians and preservationists, Winslow and Roberts were able to find historically accurate signs, modify them on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, animate them, and project them onto the buildings using a video mapping software called MadMapper.
"I love the idea of using projected light to augment the world around us, and see how a wall we pass every day looked 100 years ago." says Winslow, "Hopefully, it inspires others to get interested in the history of the world around them, become more present, and look at their surroundings differently."
