The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, announced last week that his administration will spend £770 million ($976,706,500 million) on improving and expanding bicycle accessibility and transportation around the city during his four-year term. The proposal includes the development of two new “cycle superhighways” as well as more bike routes in suburban backstreets to reduce through-traffic in residential areas. This announcement came after months of criticism of the mayor’s delay in proposing any bicycling initiatives.
