New York City is set to have numerous buildings and infrastructure projects completed within 2017. The major city expects to begin construction in Hudson Yards on British designer Thomas Heatherwick’s sculpture, Vessel, along with Foster + Partners’ 50 Hudson Yards office building. Robert A.M. Stern’s 220 Central Park South continues to rise and the second phase of the Second Avenue Subway—which will extend 8.5 miles on the east side of Manhattan—is underway. Three buildings in Brooklyn’s 22-acre Pacific Park project will open in 2017, while new rentals and condos designed by architects Richard Meier, Rafael Viñoly, and local firm Kohn Pedersen Fox will open in Waterline Square on the west side of the city, near 59th Street.
