Exhibit
From the U.K.’s oldest surviving building plan to Sir Christopher Wren’s drawings for St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the exhibit Compass and Rule: Architecture as Mathematical Practice in England, 1500–1750 at the Yale Center for British Art traces the parallel development of geometry and architectural rendering. If math’s not your best subject, no worries. Instead, feast your eyes on William Vertue’s 1518 elevation of a chapel at Winchester Cathedral (shown). Through May 30. ycba.yale.edu
