MEYDA LIGHTING LIT THE WORLD'S LARGEST LED chandelier on April 2, according to the lighting manufacturer. Installed in the Stanley Center for the Arts in Utica, N.Y., the fixture uses 170 Philips Lumileds Luxeon LEDs in the main body and 104 candelabra-based LEDs in the armatures. Meyda says the chandelier produces the lighting equivalent of 720 100-watt incandescent bulbs but uses the power of only 100. The custom fixture weighs in at 7,000 pounds and is 17 feet tall and 35 feet in diameter. The theater's Mexican baroque/Moorish theme provided the design inspiration.
