Photographer Serge Najjar captures playful interactions with Beirut's buildings, which are characterized by vibrant colors and stunning geometry, on his Instagram account. His work provides viewers with a new look at a city that many envision as scarred by war and terror. But Beirut is a modern city, one that was reborn after Lebanon’s civil war ended in 1990. Today, the city boasts stunning skyscrapers that tower over historic and pre-war modernist architecture.
“Beirut is a wonderful place for an architectural freak like me,” Najjar says in the Wired article. “Construction has been booming since the end of civil war and the country has a rich variety of buildings.”
