The third installation of The Fairy Tales competition announced its 2016 winner. Seattle-based design practice Olson Kundig Architects beat out other competitors with their project titled, "Welcome to the 5th Façade," a science fiction-inspired concept which focuses on the story of an architect who dies, is cryogenically frozen, and then brought back to life in a distant future society.

"Welcome to the 5th Façade uses science fiction as it is traditionally used, as a modality to visualize and imagine a particular future in terms of both the pitfalls and the potential," says Alan Maskin, principal of Olson Kundig.

The annual competition, which launched in 2013, is headed by Blank Space, an online platform for architecture. Read the full story on Dezeen.
