New proposals for a 15-acre site adjacent to the Hecht Warehouse District, part of Washington, D.C.'s Ivy City neighborhood in the District's northeast quadrant, have been released by Douglas Development, which controls the parcel. The Douglas proposal, tentatively titled NewCityDC, includes a small hotel of 108 rooms, 200 apartments. The mixed-use development proposal also calls for 550,000 square feet of retail anchored by a 130,000 grocery store and another yet-to-be-determined 80,000-square-foot retail tenant, with 2,800 parking spaces servicing the triangular site. Landscape elements included in the NewCityDC proposal are a large pedestrian plaza near the parcel's southern end as well as three smaller pocket parks in the site.
