Last week, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump picked Ben Carson as his nominee to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Published as an open letter to Carson, architecture critic Mark Lamster gives a rundown of the challenges faced by the department and a new secretary of HUD. Lamster writes: "It is my hope that you will find your medical training coming in handy, and not because you may be tempted to self-lobotomize after a few weeks on the job.
