Tom Powers, AIA, and David Bourke have officially taken over as co-presidents of the international firm, Interior Architects (IA). The former managing principals of IA’s Chicago and New York offices, respectively, had been serving as executive directors since 2014 when IA founder and president, David Mourning, decided to transfer ownership and leadership of the firm after 32 years.

"Together, working closely with the existing leadership across all IA offices, we will lead the firm into our next phase, with the goal of serving our clients and staff successfully across the globe," Powers and Bourke told ARCHITECT.

According to a press release, this joint leadership model “perfectly aligns with the firm culture and the collaborative approach to leadership that IA has embraced since its inception.” Mourning will continue to support IA’s work as an independent member of the board of directors and founder. Buzz Riley and Julio Braga will take over as co-managing directors in New York while Carolyn Tucker will transition to managing director in Chicago.
