Over at Popular Mechanics, David Grossman reports that everyone's favorite ride-sharing service (unless you're a Lyft person, that is) is now offering a new service: Your ride history. The company's new service, Movement, takes the company from personal taxis to urban design, packaging top-level ride data for sale to cities to help them study taffic movement and volume. Grossman's angle is that its a political move to endear itself to cities that have thus far resisted the app-based company, but the real story could be in the usefulness of the data for future design and infrastructure ideas.
