Over at our sister magazine Builder, regular guest blogger Ryan Meres, who is also a senior code compliance specialist at the Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Market Transformation, takes a look at the issue of cutting regulations and how much can actually be done by the incoming president. There has been a lot of talk, of course, but, writes Meres, "The home building industry is beholden to dozens of regulations, from local, state and federal branches of government. One category of regulations that has received particular scrutiny over the past 10 years is building energy codes. ... So, how might President Trump’s administration impact the nation’s model energy codes?" The short answer? Not as much as "The Donald" has said that he can.
