Over at Wired, Sarah Scoles reports about how the space mining industry is just beginning to take baby steps in the direction of viability. Peter Diamandis, he of X Prize fame, is the head of a company called Planetary Resources, which, thus far, has harvested approximately zero resources from other planets. Now, that's not meant to be mean. It's meant to show how difficult and expensive mining metals and water from asteroids and other planetary objects is going to be, and how we only at the very, very beginning of that journey.
