Project Description

FROM THE AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUTE:

The Mission Bridge is a major 4-lane, 1-km long crossing of the Fraser River in British Columbia, Canada. It was opened to traffic in 1973. The bridge is located in a high seismic zone and is a critical lifeline link in the Province’s disaster recovery network. The crossing is one of the nine major crossings prioritized for seismic retrofit, spurred in large part by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in San Francisco.
