Curvy Girls Bridal

Fairfax, VA United States

Architecture, Inc

Project Description

This unique bridal shop, located in a new shopping center in Chantilly, Virginia, was designed to provide a classy and fun space where brides-to-be will feel special and pampered. Given the name, “CurvyGirls,” the design goal was to incorporate the use of curves to complement and reinforce the name. The space is located in the wedge-shaped corner of a boomerang shaped building. While this space would typically be considered the least desirable space in a retail building because of the lower storefront window to square footage ratio of the space; the circular design concept uses the unique shape to its advantage maximizing the flow and movement of the brides through the space. The clients are drawn into and through the space by the curved pathways and display areas. The central circular bridal dressing area is the hub of this very special experience. Suspended white ceiling “clouds” create a more fanciful environment and the higher black suspended ceiling with white globe pendant lights bring about images of stars in a night sky.
