Fortaleza Hall

Racine, WI United States

Foster + Partners

Project Description

The Fortaleza Hall in Racine, WIsconsin was built as a memorial for Sam Johnson, former CEO of the SC Johnson company. It was built around a replica of a 1930s twin-engine Sikorsky S-38 amphibious plane, and according to Giles Robinson (partner-in-charge of the project), the building was to be a "elegant and simple backdrop to the complexity of the plane."
