In the town known for being the weekend home of President John Kennedy, the residences of ambassadors, philanthropists, and the equestrian elite, the historic atmosphere was a natural fit for being the home of the Salamander Resort & Spa. Honoring the wishes of the town's residents, shop owners and regional vineyards, the ownership team and designers set out to maintain the rural yet elegant nature of this Virginian Blue Ridge Mountains town, Middleburg. The mission and challenge for the design team from the outset was to minimize the impact to the historic town of Middleburg by conforming to the scale and architectural fabric of the town. Over three hundred acres offer exceptional vistas and color. “Framed” views of the surrounding landscape from both within the hotel and from the grounds were identified early in the planning of the resort. It was critical to provide an integration of the natural setting with this new elegant country inn.
Salamander Resort & Spa offers 198 luxury guest rooms and suites, a 20,000 square foot spa, an equestrian center with guest stables for 16 horses, a panoramic dining room with 20 foot ceilings, the Gold Cup Wine Bar serving wines from regional vineyards, a billiards room, and a unique array of conference and banquet facilities
