Project Detail

Sant Ocean Hall

Washington, DC United States

Project Description

Quinn Evans Architects designed the renovation and restoration of the central exhibit halls within this national museum facility. The renovation of the galleries reinstated the original beaux-arts features exposing ornate and painted molding which delineates voluminous space and provides the central halls with a connection to the rest of the museum. The most dramatic transformation was restoring daylighting through the large windows lining the side halls and the significant laylight. The daylight reinforces wayfinding within the museum as well as creates an interior environmental quality far more congenial for visitors and museum staff alike.
