SolarCity, a solar panel manufacturer recently acquired by Tesla Motors, let go 20 percent of its staff in 2016, ending the year with 12,243 employees. The main reason for why the company downsized seems to be slow growth within the solar panel industry. Just one year before, in 2015, the number of SolarCity employees was up by 68.7 percent.
