The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has inaugurated its 84th president: Marshall E. Purnell, a principal of Washington, D.C.’s Devrouax + Purnell Architects and Planners. Purnell served as AIA first vice president in 2007 and succeeds R.K. Stewart. In 2003 Purnell was the president of the D.C. chapter of the AIA, and he served as AIA mid-Atlantic regional director from 2003 to 2006. He was named an AIA fellow in 1991.
