The recent recipient of a master’s in architecture, Pavlo Kryvozub will travel to Europe and Asia to study art and architecture, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill will be picking up the tab.
As part of the SOM Foundation’s Traveling Fellowship Program, Kryvozub received $50,000 to travel and research the synthesis of art and architecture. Kryvozub earned his degree from the University of Cincinnati in June.
Other prizes this year included a $20,000 Travel/Research Fellowship awarded to the University of Tennessee’s Annie Stone, whose proposal involves “the immediacy and exactitude of the camera’s eye.” Margaret Wildnauer, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, won the $10,000 Structural Engineering Travel Fellowship for her proposal “The Fourth E.” Environment, she said, should be added as a criterion to Princeton professor Dr. David Billington’s characteristics of structural art—efficiency, economy, and elegance.
