PEOPLE: designer, Green Roof Services LLC, Forest Hill, Md., and installer, Magco Inc., Jessup, Md.GREEN POINTS: This 10,000-square-foot (929-m2) extensive green roof features monitoring equipment that measures its performance. Ten sedum species provide a durable ground cover; nine perennials improve biodiversity and aesthetics; and two grasses add height and structure. More than 15,000 plants and 100 pounds (45 kg) of sedum cuttings comprise the green roof. The organic content in the growing medium is spent mushroom compost. The drainage system is the Optigreen drainage plate FDK25 by Resource Conservation Technology Inc., Baltimore, and an EPDM membrane serves as a root barrier over an existing waterproofing membrane.
