During construction, reuse of an existing fluid membrane, expanded polystyrene insulation and concrete pavers reduced the amount of material going to landfill. About 10,000 square feet (929 m2) of fully adhered waterproofing, root-barrier membrane and flashings created a leak-free roof assembly. The roof has more than 7,000 plants representing 98 species with 51 of those species being native perennials and grasses. Other features include 5,000 sedums representing 12 species installed in drift patterns to reflect river current; more than 100 ornamental evergreen and blooming shrubs and vines; more than 50 fruit-bearing shrubs for wildlife; and more than 1,200 square feet (112 m2) of golf-course-grade bentgrass sod installed with 68 feet (21 m) of zoysia sod. A smart subsurface capillary irrigation system uses 80 percent less water than an overhead system.
