A gorgeous contemporary bridge home rises on a site of an abandoned limestone quarry in Falling Water, W.Va., connecting two concrete pillars with a steel and glass perch.
The Hawk’s Nest is a studio home designed by Bethesda, Md.-based Wiedemann Architects for a French artist. The designers hoped to create a simple but charming home that showed huge contrast to, but was also intertwined with nature.
Open window facades blur the line between inside and outside, turning the ever-changing natural scenery into home decorations and offering a great, sweeping view of the Potomac River. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows brighten up the interior and provide ample natural light, while window curtains made of Brazilian walnut, or ipe wood offer privacy to the homeowner.
The home's interior is decorated with dark concrete floors that stand in contrast to the home's white walls and furniture. For continuity, the interior of the home is outfitted entirely in black and white colors, with a little bit of red on the kitchen ceiling as a highlight.
