The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, designed by Frank Gehry, FAIA, turns ten this month. Bringing a little bit of Bilbao to Bunker Hill, Gehry calls this steel-clad structure a blooming flower; the abstract petals surrounding an acoustically perfect auditorium make the Disney Concert Hall as much a destination for its architecture as for its performances. Already neighbor to MoCA by Arata Isozaki, Hon. FAIA, and A.C. Martin’s DWP Headquarters, the Disney will soon be joined by Diller Scofidio + Renfro’s Broad Museum.
