The 92-year-old design and fashion icon Iris Apfel is selling off roughly 800 pieces from her personal collection on the home flash sale website One Kings Lane, starting Saturday.
Not unlike her design aesthetic, Apfel has done a little bit of a lot of different things, from designing a jewelry line to exhibiting a selection of her fashion and accessories at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to co-founding a textile company, Old World Weavers, with her husband. In a fashion world in love with anything black, Apfel stands out in color-laden get-ups with an eclecticism that translates into her interior preferences as well.
"I think good design is self-expression, not copying somebody else," Apfel told The New York Times' T Magazine in an interview last May. "If I like old things, I like old things at home and I like old things, I mean I've always liked vintage or things that look old, it makes me look better."
Here's a selection of furniture from the sale, which will also include lighting, jewelry, art, textiles and rugs, and decorative objects.
