The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design recently announced the winners of the 2008 Good Design Awards. A record number of Good Design Awards—500—were given for the latest design innovations in such categories as electronics, medical equipment, transportation, furniture, textiles, industrial machinery, public environment, hardware, tools, accessories, kitchen/appliances, floor coverings, tabletop, household products, personal, office products, children's products, sports and recreation, lighting, and graphics. Good Design Awards Results Are In

Results are in for the Good Design Awards from the Chicago Athenaeum, the Museum of Architecture and Design. Established in 1950 by Museum of Modern Art curator Edgar J. Kaufmann Jr., the program honors designers and manufacturers for 'new and innovative product concepts and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered standard product and consumer design.' Lighting is one of the 13 categories, which include: Office and Residential Furniture, Housewares, Transportation, Electronics, Hardware/Tools, Business and Industrial Equipment, and Environmental Design. More

The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design Announces 2005 Good Design Winners

has announced the winners of its 2005 Good Design Competition. Founded in 1950, Good Design is an international design competition that honors innovative graphic and product design in 18 categories, including one for lighting. Winning designs are accessioned into the museum's permanent collection and will be on display in the museum's Good Design show in early summer 2006. More
