At night, a vivid wash of colored light, in this instance magenta, uplights the underside of the roof plane at Twilight Epiphany, James Turrell’s most recently completed skyspace on the Rice University campus in Houston.
The 244 LED fixtures are tuned to a color sequence that is played at dawn and again at dusk.
The skyspace incorporates two seating levels; concrete benches line the upper viewing area.
Granite benches line the lower level.
Visitors make their way to the interior seating space via a simple passageway.
