B'nai Israel SynagogueRochester, Minn. HGA The 15,000-square-foot Bnai Israel Synagogue, near the Mayo Clinic, has a 150-seat sanctuary based on a broad-house plan. The program also includes classrooms, a social hall, a library, offices, and a catering kitchen.
For the east-facing ark wall at B’nai Israel, HGA created a screen out of three layers of thin, white acrylic, illuminated by both artificial and natural light.
Summit Jewish Community CenterSummit, N.J. Alexander Gorlin Architects Alexander Gorlin recently designed an expansion for the Summit Jewish Community Center, a Conservative synagogue in New Jersey. The form of the new sanctuary was derived from the Star of David. Now under construction, the project will also add three new classrooms and a common room for the nursery school.
