The high-visibility site at the Unversity of Oregon led to the idea of four public façades on the 40,000-square-foot academic learning center.
A double-wall façade addresses acoustic isolation, thermal insulation, and daylight control. A vertical stainless steel screen provides shading, thermal comfort, and ability to harvest heat.
The stainless steel screen is located within the cavity at 22 inches in front of the inner glass layer and is composed of a pattern of triangular-shaped bars.
