KnollTextile’s inaugural 2013 collection features three original, large-scale upholstery designs inspired by the Malaysian word for and practice of ikat, which is the process of binding, dying, and weaving together sections of yarn. KnollTextile’s creative director Dorothy Cosonas took the process one step further by combining the concept of ikat with Japanese textile patterns. The three designs—Ikat Square, Ikat Stripe, and Origins—join the rest of the new Elements line, which uses a range of hues and tones for a more subtle effect.
