When Gerrit Rietveld introduced his Zig-Zag chair in 1934, all eyes were on its legless engineering. Today, New York-based furniture designer and builder Peter Harrison is giving the design element its due redux. Making a striking statement with maple panels in red or black lacquer finishes, the chair joins Harrison’s existing collection, which uses visible aluminum joints and screws as both support and accent pieces. The chair measures 15 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 31 inches tall. Peter Harrison, 518.882.4031; peterharrison.com.
