Project Description
FROM THE AIA:
The seven-story mixed-use building consists of five units of adaptable live-work space. Large steel-clad doors on the alley-facing façade can be opened with a custom-designed hand wheel and hinge, connected to a davit crane on the roof. This system makes it possible to lift large objects from the alley into each unit. Geothermal loops inserted in the building’s structural piles create an innovative and highly energy-efficient radiant heating and cooling system. This is one of the first uses of this type of geothermal system in the United States.
