Project Description
The Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center sets a new standard in the NFL for summer training camp facilities. The project provides state-of-the-art facilities and two natural grass football fields designed especially for the Redskins during the yearly three-week training period.Bon Secours Virginia Health System has also ensured the facility serves as a valuable year-round resource for the community. When training camp is not in session, the building operates as a full-service sports medicine rehabilitation and men’s health center, in addition to offering fitness and education programs.
The Richmond Economic Development Authority manages year-round operations of the facilities and fields, making them available for youth programming, including the “Movin’ Mania”, Bon Secours’ healthy kids initiative. Proximity to the Science Museum and the Children’s Museum offers potential for combined programming and tourism experiences. As a fast track project that would result in large financial penalties if deadlines were not met, choosing partners who could work under an accelerated schedule was key. Chosen for fast availability and service along with selection of profiles, Fabral provided 8000 squares of 7/8” Corrugated panels in Slate Gray.
More than 165,000 fans turned out to see the Washington Redskins in their first training camp in Richmond. The entire three weeks far surpassed all expectations. The project has been a great success and Fabral is happy to have played part in creating such a positive impact for the community of Richmond, VA.
