Project Description
Artwork takes center stage in the new home for Boston Art, a consulting firm specializing in providing art programs for a wide variety of clients. Occupying 6,750 sf in the Innovation and Design Building in Boston’s Seaport District, the space includes a workplace, showroom, and creative laboratory in which clients can curate their collections alongside staff. The design is airy, calm, and sophisticated, celebrating the industrial qualities of the 1918 warehouse. At the heart of the space is an open gallery with suspended moveable walls. The open layout benefits from daylight and views from large windows overlooking the harbor.
Boston Art’s new workspace turns the white-cube metaphor upside down, bringing the back-of-house experience front and center and making it more accessible for clients, who have the sense that they have entered a design studio where they can take part in the creative process. Emphasizing this sense of openness, glass walls and a frameless glass front door allow an unobstructed view through the reception area deep into the new workspace.
