Project Description
This small, airy home goes well beyond the basic sustainable requirements. Design-builder Chad Cornette of the Cantilever Studio infused his passion for site specific design and sustainable architecture to marry this home into its rural pasture site. The home boasts an array of eco-friendly features, from geothermal ground source heating and cooling and natural material spray-foam insulation, to resource efficient flooring, wall coverings, cabinets, and lighting. Beyond the materials and systems selections, the design began with site specificity, and its layout is directly responsive to the suns path for passive solar attainment, prevailing wind patterns, views of the surrounding horse pastures, and the hillside that anchors the home into the Earth.
