Project Description
FROM FXCOLLABORATIVE:
FXCollaborative's master plan transforms the historic Navy Brig site, a former prison, into a vibrant mixed-use development opposite the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The plan includes three affordable residential buildings, supportive housing, market-rate townhouses, retail space, and a shared green space. Designed to achieve a LEED Silver rating, the project incorporates sustainable features such as green roofs, efficient heating and lighting systems, and local and recycled materials.
FROM CURTIS + GINSBERG ARCHITECTS:
The Navy Green Development on the former US Navy Brig site serves as a cornerstone for rebuilding the Wallabout community. It is comprised of new market rate, supportive, and affordable residential units, 434 in total, and retail space, all surrounding a central, landscaped courtyard for common use by all tenants. Navy Green’s design is a collaborative effort of designers, developers and a not-for-profit; and is organized around the central idea that responsible development must occur in harmony with the surrounding communities and enhance the character of the neighborhood.
C+GA is the Architect for the affordable housing R3, Executive Architect for the Market Rate Townhouses, and Architect of Record for the Supportive Housing.
