Project Description
Phase I of North Carolina (NC) State University’s Talley Student Union has opened and Phase II is well underway with completion set for early 2015.The 117,000-square-foot renovation and a new 171,000-square-foot addition has become a new hub for student activities. The Talley Student Union was designed to be the center for student life at NC State, providing extracurricular opportunities, employment and educational resources to aid students in academic and personal success and a welcoming environment for students to gather for meals, relaxation or academic collaboration.
Phase I of the building, which included most of the dining venues, the ballroom, several meeting rooms, and the print/copy shop, recently opened.
Phase II includes a new four-story, sky lit atrium carved from the existing structure. The atrium will link the building’s major program areas and will house a full-height, louvered wood art installation sculpting the form of the University mascot to reflect the spirit of NC State’s student population. The building includes formal and informal meeting spaces, a dynamic variety of culinary experiences, commons, lounge and student organization spaces.
