Project Description
FROM THE ARCHITECTS (Jan. 05, 2016):
Detailed renderings for Legacy Partners’ Neptune
Marina apartment community were unveiled today by TCA Architects, bringing a
timeless mid-century modern aesthetic to the heart of Marina del Rey, CA.
Located on Marquesas Way, between Basins A and B, the under-construction
multifamily community includes 526 contemporary apartment homes with
picturesque harbor views and a new marina with modern boater facilities,
announced Tim Mustard, Studio Director and the architect of record at TCA
Architects.
Scheduled
for completion in summer 2018, Neptune Marina’s clean, linear design is
inspired by the era in which Marina del Rey was established, while
incorporating nautical expressions through the usage of texture, stone accents
and a neutral color palette with the addition of a modest yet playful splash of
color. TCA Architects’ inclusion of post and beams with expansive windows, open
floor plans and improved waterfront access creates a true indoor/outdoor living
experience associated with living in the marina.
“The
architectural goal for Neptune Marina is to adopt the site’s historical design
elements and infuse them with a modern balance in order to resonate with the
next generation of marina residents and boaters,” said Mustard. “The objective
is not to replicate the past but for its influence to be present in our designs
alongside vibrant, modern characteristics.”
Neptune
Marina’s pedestrian sense of scale and enhanced public access and waterfront
promenades provide an amicable balance between contributing to the walkability
of the surrounding community while preserving privacy and exclusivity for
residents. TCA Architects achieves this through the incorporation of elevated
courtyards only accessible to residents and strategically placed common spaces,
such as lobbies and boater facilities on the public edges to supplement the
surrounding promenades.
While
Neptune Marina has an estimated completion of 2018, TCA Architects’ designs for
the waterfront residence have already been well received. Prior to breaking
ground, Neptune Marina received the merit award for Best on the Boards
Multifamily Project at the PCBC 2015 Conference.
