Project Description
Builder's Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
This rooftop condominium kitchen celebrates food preparation, creating a social event for this family of six who love to cook together. The design supports multiple cooks, functionality, storage, and durability in an upscale, modern, style. An extension of family life, the Kitchen provides open connections to Dining, Living, and adjacent Foyer without disturbing the entry experience.
Utilizing an "L" shape, the storage and preparation functions nestle at the perimeter while the opposite sides are open to the Living and Dining across the beverage buffet. The Kitchen becomes the nucleus of the activity, supporting the family value of togetherness.
Direct connection to the Foyer allows easy access upon entering while granite columns and a cast glass water wall provide separation. Marching granite columns and LED colorized canopies define circulation to the Bed Room Suites. Column interiors are utilized for much needed storage, housed in zebrawood cabinets.
Tall refrigeration units with aluminum framed translucent illuminated panels anchor the "L." High gloss acrylic cabinets and a glass curtain wall corner expand the space connecting to the Roof Terrace beyond.
The zebrawood cabinets and the recycled glass counter at the island provide a social center. Separation of vertical and horizontal planes is maintained with contrasting material selections and concealed linear LED lighting. Horizontal datum lines of window mullions, cabinetry, and aluminum accent banding align to unify the elements.
Metal mesh panels, edge accents, and backsplash tile, professional grade appliances, natural stone floors, and granite counters reduce maintenance and ensure a long lasting aesthetic. Casework is fully accessorized making a functional and efficient "working" Kitchen.
The design response reflects the family's lifestyle, enhancing and supporting their relationships without sacrificing function and style.
