Project Description
Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world, represents an achievement of many cultures and nationalities. It was fitting, therefore, that the major art installation in the residential lobby reflects this international spirit. The commission of World Voices, an installation by artist Jaume Plensa, was facilitated by the architect and comprised of 196 stainless steel rods and gold plated cymbals representing each country in the world. The interior design for the Public Areas at the Residences at Burj Khalifa reflects the architecture but is also intrinsically rooted in the ancient land and traditions of Dubai. The design features the curvature of the building as well as an abstract interpretation of Arabic calligraphic script inherent in the building. The incorporation of more than 500 pieces of art is carried throughout the Public Areas at the Residences at Burj Khalifa; a 12th century vessel in the elevator lobby points to the region’s rich and illustrious past and each residential corridor features an art piece commissioned from artists in the region. The vision for interiors was one of classic timelessness, exuding refinement, culture and restrained luxury while appealing to a broach range of tastes from a wide range of audiences.
