Project Description
This project creates an active and vibrant residential community, benefiting its residents and the surrounding community. 100% of the housing is affordable, with 1/3 of the units being replacement public housing. An approved PUD plan was formed through work with the community and city agencies including the consolidation of 10 consecutive parcels. The project’s urban design repairs the eroded urban fabric by reestablishing the street edge and creating a mixed-use destination. The project is within a 15 minute walk of three Metro stations and is served by a major bus route. The project is a mix of one, two, and three bedroom units, with focus on two and three bedrooms to cater to the needs of families in the community. A Fitness Center and outdoor playground promote healthy lifestyles, and the adult enrichment center offers free educational classes, from computer skills to reading comprehension. The project followed the Green Communities Initiative checklist to implement sustainability goals.
