Project Description
KWA Construction, a leading general contractor specializing in multi-family developments throughout Texas, has finalized construction on Phase II of the new on-campus student housing units for Austin College, a liberal arts college located in Sherman, Texas. The three-story North Flats building is 43,613 square feet with 38 additional units. KWA completed Phase I in 2011, which included Hass Village on Grand and The Flats at Brockett Court, providing 38 units at a combined 86,623 square feet.
“Returning to Austin College nearly 10 years after completing Phase I is a true testament to our lasting business relationship with our clients and demonstrates the enduring quality found in our projects,” said Brian Webster, President of KWA Construction. “KWA was specifically selected because of the performance of the previous phase. This student housing project required a quick turnaround to ensure timely completion and adequately prepare the college for Fall semester move-ins.”
Designed by Architecture Demarest, The North Flats match the style of existing student housing to integrate them seamlessly into campus life. With bright colors and Victorian-style architecture, the facility provides the much-needed home-away-from-home that students often crave. Each unit includes one to four bedrooms, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, a living area and built-in workstations. Construction began in late July 2019 and was completed in July 2020, in time for Fall classes to begin on Aug. 25, 2020.
