Project Description
Challenge: Transform a dilapidated turn-of-the-century mansion into a larger home for the University of Virginia’s Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture. The building was suspended on pylons so that the foundation could be restored and the basement rebuilt.
Judges appreciated: the structure’s elegance.
